Landscape and planting design

Working in thoughtful relationship with the land and the people who engage with the land. The motivation in each project is to maximise the flourishing of life.

Soil as commons

The commoner being redefined to include both (wo)man and beast. The aim is to increase the biodiversity in plant life, which in turn supports a wealth of insect life & other fauna.

Each place is different; the lay of the land, the aspect of the ground, the bedrock, the people, the nature of place & so on. These together determine the choice of plant species.

20 plus years in horticulture and design has been the precursor to working in a more subtle way with natural cycles and systems. The motivation for establishing this business is to make the greening and diversification of the land, easy and accessible for all. The intervention can be as light or as intensive as is appropriate to site and those who care for the site. I work with both native and exotic/ non native plants. I believe in the life and energy created when we work with the rest of nature, but equally there are circumstances where it is more appropriate to leave be, to allow a habitat to develop of it's own accord, with little intervention.

In choosing to go though a planning process, you are giving time to considering the landscape as a whole, how it interacts with the surrounding landscape, what species or habitats are endemic? what is the potential of the land? can we make the land more productive or more diverse? can we extend its purpose to support more life just by changing the management practice? These are some of the questions I introduce and look to resolve.
