A competition working with architects Sanchez Benton on the redesign of a modernist podium garden in the London Borough of Southwark. The space is to be opened up to the public in connection with a cafe below as a protected haven of growth and blossom in this car dominated landscape.

The proposal is for a rich tapestry of flowers in a central bed with benches along the periphery and so creating a hortus conclusus, a peaceful, inward looking space.

The Persian silk tree Albizia julibrissen occupies the south corner of the central bed.

The planting in the central bed is inspired by the jewel like flora of the Iranian high plateau. This is Gol-o Morgh Persian Tazhib style Bird and flower. The following image is Tulipa polychroma.
